Emerging onto San Diego’s rock scene in mid 2016, Ready Set Survive has proven to be on the rise here in the local music scene. With their edgy, full of energy, rock sound and lyrics based upon survival stories, Ready Set Survive has set a name for themselves. The talented trio released a self-titled EP in the beginning of 2017 and is already receiving airplay on local radio stations like 91x. Talks of a second album is in the works but in the mean time, the band released two, brand new singles in early August 2017. Along with new music and upcoming gigs, Ready Set Survive is on to something big.

With their deep, soulful music The Midnight Pine brings an alternative, country sound to the San Diego music scene. Consisting of Shelbi Bennet (vocals), Al Howard (instruments) and Matt Molarius (instruments) as well as a full band. Their first album tittle “Awake Now” was released in 2012 and which won the band best Local Recording at the 2013 San Diego Music Awards. From there, they have release two albums, their self title album “Midnight Pine (2016)” and “Buried (2014),” which won Best Americana Album at the 2014 San Diego Music Awards. With future plans of recording a live album, we are intrigued for The Midnight Pine and their future.

Deriving from San Diego, Bang Pow is a indie, synth, rock band that you can’t help but want to groove to. The edgy, fun dance band consists of Tommy Dubs (vocals), Doug Kunnath (synths), Joe Gastelum (drums),Tim Powers (bass) and Jonathan Zander (guitar). After winning a spot at KAABOO at the Discover Tour battle of the bands competition last year, Bang Pow is on the rise in the local SoCal music scene. With their debut album, “Talk in Technicolor”, Bang Pow has made quite a name for themselves in the community.

Wild Planes is a pop/rock band based out of New York City consisting of Lead Singer/Guitarist Kris Carmello, Lead Guitarist Sean Mac, Bassist Jimmy “Ray” Hoag, and Drummer Andre Jevnik. Being labeled as a fun band with an unmatched energy and a big personality, Wild Planes is on the rise in the music industry. Blending elements of pop, rock, funk, and R&B, Wild Planes is creating timeless music that everybody can enjoy.

A powerful duo, Crystal Douesnard and Thomas Moore, have created an authentic sound in WildEyes, a rock band based out of Los Angeles, CA. Despite their classic rock beats, WildEyes has an upbeat, modern sound sure to get everyone on their feet. In 2016, they released their debut EP, Know Me Now, featuring singles such as the self-titled WildEyes and an acoustic rock ballad, Remember. Though their journey is just getting started, they have already built a loyal fan base in Los Angeles and created a distinct sound that is hard to ignore. With plans to tour in the near future, we’re sure we’ll be seeing a lot of WildEyes very soon.

Faulkner, based out of Venice, California and New York City, is an alternative rock band with bicoastal influence in their music and their attitude. Founded in 2013, Faulkner has created their own sound and their own movement with musical influences spawning from N.W.A to The Clash. Their debut EP, Revanchist, was released in 2016, featuring singles such as Revolutionary and Ny Anthem which has been featured on ESPN. And get excited – they’re getting ready to release their debut full-length album this summer. There are little hints about what to expect, but as noted on Faulkner’s Facebook page, “The less you know about Faulkner, the more you know about Faulkner.”
Recently, we got to connect with Faulkner at a small show in Los Angeles, and saw them rock the crowd with their high-energy sound. As a band with big energy and even bigger dreams, we can expect to see a lot more of them very soon.
